Eat AI Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 16, 2026 · Operator: Trial and Error Inc. (United States)

Eat AI ("the App") is a calorie and nutrition tracking application that uses artificial intelligence to analyze photographs of food. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Photos You Submit

When you take or upload a photo of food, the image is transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our processing pipeline for analysis. The pipeline uses Google's Gemini API (through a Cloudflare Worker we operate) to identify ingredients and estimate nutritional values. Photos are processed ephemerally and are not retained on our servers beyond the time needed to return a result. Photos you choose to save in your personal meal log are stored in your device and in our Cloudflare R2 object storage (United States) linked to your account identifier.

Account Data

We use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to manage accounts. By default, the App creates an anonymous Firebase user identifier so you can use Eat AI without providing an email. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the account identifier and email those providers return. We do not store your provider password.

Usage and Diagnostics

We collect basic interaction events and crash diagnostics to improve the App. This includes the number of scans performed, screens visited, and anonymized performance metrics. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or device identifiers for advertising.

Subscription Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive the receipt and subscription status via RevenueCat (our subscription management partner) to unlock premium features in the App. We do not receive or store your payment card information.

2. How We Use Information

We do not sell your data, share it for cross-app advertising, or use it to train third-party machine learning models outside the scope of providing the service.

3. Third-Party Services

The following processors handle data on our behalf:

4. Tracking and Advertising

Eat AI does not use the iOS Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not run third-party ad networks inside the App.

5. Your Choices

6. Data Retention

Photos you save in your meal log are retained until you delete them or your account. Anonymous identifiers persist until you delete the App or request deletion. Aggregated analytics with no user identifier are retained for up to 24 months.

7. Children

Eat AI is rated 4+ and contains no content targeted at children, but calorie tracking is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please email us and we will delete it.

8. International Users

The App is operated from the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you inside the App.
